For about five years, I made my own soap in my kitchen using a crockpot, various oils and butters, and essential oils.

It was a hobby that combined my love of natural ingredients with the fun of creating something from scratch.

But eventually, I stopped making soap because, making everything yourself takes time (and I was also busy making my own almond milk, granola cereal, face oils, etc).

During that entire soapmaking experience, there’s one type of soap I never mastered: fresh goat milk soap.

Noticed I said fresh. I made some soaps with powered goat milk, but everything I read indicated that it’s not the same as using fresh goat milk.

So when Bend Soap – a company that uses fresh goat milk – asked if I would like to try their goat milk soaps, I said yes immediately!

In this article, I’m sharing my experience with their soaps, as well as a lip butter they sent me.

A Little About Bend Soap and Why I Wanted to Try Their Products

Bend Soap is a family-owned company that makes goat milk soaps and other body care products.

It all started when one of the children in the family was struggling with eczema. After trying various treatments – unsuccessfully – they learned that goat milk can be soothing for the skin.

So they made some goat milk soap for their little one and his eczema steadily cleared up.

Given that they had a personal story about how goat milk soap had changed their family’s life, I was even more excited to test out the products!

What’s in Bend Soap’s Goat Milk Soaps?

Bend Soap makes its soaps with:

  • fats (like palm oil, coconut oil, etc)
  • lye (this is a must for soapmaking because it reacts with the fats to produce soap)
  • fresh goat milk

Depending on the specific soap, they also add essential oils for scent.

Overall, clean and simple ingredients that I recognize!

My Experience Using Bend Soap’s Goat Milk Soaps

Bend Soap sent me three varieties to try:

I used all three soaps from head to toe, including on my hair.

Yes, my hair! I have 4C natural hair and I’ve been washing it with bar soap for years. So used the Bend Soaps the same way I would use any other bar of soap.

How well do the soaps cleanse?

All three soaps lathered nicely and did a good job of cleansing my skin.

I didn’t find them to be significantly different from the other traditionally made bar soaps I use.

As for my hair, the soaps worked very well too!

For context, I use oils and butters in on my hair, so there’s usually some buildup to wash away. These soaps got my hair and scalp clean with just one round of cleansing. So, no complaints there!

Did they leave my skin feeling dry?

Overall, I found the soaps comfortable to use and didn’t experience any irritation.

For context, my skin is mostly normal, with a slightly oily T-zone (although it’s become less oily as I’ve gotten older).

For me, the soaps did what I expect a soap to do: cleanse well without leaving my skin feeling completely stripped.

A Closer Look at the Three Soaps I Tried

Although all three soaps performed similarly, they offered different experiences in terms of scent.

1. Unscented Soap

The Pure Natural soap is exactly what the name implies: goat milk soap with no added fragrance or essential oils.

It’s a good option to explore if you prefer unscented products or simply don’t want every product in your bathroom to have a scent.

In terms of lather and cleansing ability, it was solid and similar in that regard to the other two below.

2. Tea Tree Soap

If you’ve ever used tea tree essential oil, you know it has a pretty distinctive herbal scent.

And in Bend Soap’s tea tree bar, the scent came through nicely, without being overwhelming.

This was perfect for me because I synthetic fragrances are too much for my senses. I much prefer the gentler scents that something like tea tree offers in a soap.

3. Chai Tea Soap

Now, this was my absolute favorite because I also love drinking chai tea and I never imagined someone would put all those aromas into a soap.

This soap is a limited edition, for fall 2026, and it has all the grounding scents we associate with chai tea courtesy of these essential oils:

  • Cinnamon oil
  • Cardamom oil
  • Allspice oil
  • Clove oil
  • Ginger oil
  • Nutmeg oil

I really can’t put into words what a lovely sensory experience this soap is! I’m hoping they keep it as part of their regular collection because it’s outstanding!

My Experience With Bend Soap’s Sweet Orange Lip Butter

In addition to the soaps, Bend Soap also sent me their Sweet Orange Lip Butter.

Unlike the soaps, this product doesn’t contain goat milk. Instead, it’s made with ingredients such as beeswax, oils, butters, honey and vitamin E.

The first thing I noticed was the scent.

It has a very pleasant, mild orange aroma. You can definitely pick up on the orange, but it’s subtle rather than overpowering.

I also liked the texture and how it felt when I first applied it.

However, as I continued using it throughout the day, I found that the moisturizing feel wore off a little too quickly for my liking.

I had to reapply it more frequently than I would have preferred.

So while I enjoyed the scent and initial feel of the lip butter, it wasn’t quite as long-lasting as I’d hoped.

Would I Buy Bend Soap Again?

Yes, I would buy their goat milk soaps.

I like the formulations, they clean well and I appreciate that they’re made with fresh goat milk.

And of course, the Chai Tea soap holds a special place in my heart 🙂

Having made soap myself, I know that choosing the right oils and getting the proportions right makes a difference.

And Bend Soap’s formulations are very much in line with the types of soaps I enjoy using.

So, if you’re interested in trying goat milk soap, Bend Soap is a brand worth exploring.
