Now, before we dive into the various recipes, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
Always use ripe fruits
For bananas, that means they should have spots on the peel.
Ripe fruits eliminate the need for artificial sweeteners so that you won’t ruin the health benefits of your smoothie.
Use beet root powder for natural sweetness
If you happen to have a tart batch of strawberries, this can make bring down the sweetness of your smoothie.
A healthy way to fix this is to add ½ to 1 tsp beet root powder to your smoothie.
The beet root powder adds amazing natural sweetness, and it also comes with tons of health benefits (detoxifies, boosts energy and lowers inflammation).
Buy additive-free almond milk (if possible)
As popular as almond milk is, it has one drawback: an ingredient called carrageenan.
Carrageenan can contribute to bloating and various inflammatory conditions (including allergies and irritable bowel syndrome).
Kinda defeats the purpose of drinking a healthy smoothie doesn’t it? 🙁
Now, having said that there are brands that make clean almond milk.
Personally, I recommend going with Three Trees almond milk.
While some brands still use other additives (instead of carrageenan), Three Trees milk is simply almonds and filtered water.
As good as homemade!
In addition, you can find other cleans brand at national and local health stores.
Thaw out frozen fruit
When using frozen strawberries, it’s a good idea to thaw them out overnight in the fridge or on the kitchen counter for at least an hour.
Doing this will bring out their natural flavor in the smoothie.
If you blend the strawberries frozen, they won’t have nearly as much flavor.
Adjust liquids to reach your preferred consistency
One of the frustrating things about making smoothies is getting the consistency just right.
Some of us like thicker smoothies and others prefer them on the lighter side.
So, as you make your strawberry banana smoothie at home, feel free to adjust the liquids up or down.
Sometimes you can’t avoid that little bit of experimentation:)

1 ¼ cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
Instructions
- Add ingredients to a blender in the order listed.
- Blend on high until smooth.
EASY STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE RECIPE WITH YOGURT
There are two main benefits to using yogurt in your strawberry banana smoothie:
- Provides gut-friendly probiotics
- Makes the smoothie creamier
Even though the recipe below calls for greek yogurt, any unsweetened yogurt works too.
Ingredients
1 very ripe, fresh banana (sliced)
½ cup unsweetened almond milk
½ cup plain greek yogurt
1 cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
Instructions
- Add ingredients to a blender in the order listed.
- Blend on high until smooth.
DAIRY FREE STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE WITHOUT YOGURT
Need an easy substitute for yogurt in your strawberry banana smoothie?
Then use coconut yogurt instead.
It’s a non-dairy substitute that still contains gut-friendly probiotics, as well as the creaminess of regular yogurt.
And, to keep up with the coconut theme, switch out the almond milk for coconut milk!
The final recipe is shown below.
Ingredients
1 very ripe, fresh banana (sliced)
½ cup coconut milk (or almond milk)
½ cup coconut yogurt
1 ¼ cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
QUICK STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE WITH WATER
Using water in a smoothie is about as easy it gets!
However, you can lose a little bit in flavor (especially if you have a tart batch of strawberries).
So, to counteract this, just add ½ to 1 tsp of beet root powder to the smoothie.
Ingredients
1 very ripe, fresh banana (sliced)
¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
1 ¼ cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
½ – 1 tsp beet root powder
SIMPLE STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE WITH APPLE OR ORANGE JUICE
Apple juice and orange juice are two everyday juices that work really well as a liquid base for a strawberry banana smoothie.
For maximum health benefits, use fresh-pressed juice that you make yourself or buy from a trusted supplier.
True fresh-pressed juices are not pasteurized, which means they are full of vital enzymes and other nutrients.
Now, in a pinch, you can certainly use regular store-bought juices.
But just be aware that since standard store-bought juices are pasteurized, they’re mainly a concentrate of sugar.
Ingredients
1 very ripe, fresh banana (sliced)
¾ cup orange or apple juice
1 cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
