infused water recipes for weight loss

In a previous post about boosting your metabolism without exercise, I shared some research about how water alone increases your metabolism by 30%.

But…drinking plain ol’ water can get boring really quickly, right?

Well, today I’m sharing some tasty infused (aka detox) water recipes that will motivate you to drink more water!

So, if you’ve been looking for a fun way to drink water and support weight loss, keep reading.

DETOX WATER BENEFITS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

1) Keeps You Hydrated

There’s one main reason why hydration is essential for weight loss: it facilitates elimination.

You see, when you’re eating a healthy diet for weight loss, your body will be filtering out a lot of toxins.

And in order for those toxins to leave your body, you need water (along with healthy fiber in your diet).

A great-tasting and refreshing infused water recipe helps keep up your motivation to drink water throughout the day.

And as a side benefit, drinking water regularly also hydrates your skin and contributes to a healthy glow.

2) Free of Added Sugar

Most soft drinks are loaded with processed sugar (like high fructose corn syrup) or zero-calorie, artificial sweeteners.

Both types of sugars have side effects and they can contribute to:

  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Leaky gut syndrome
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • PMS symptoms
  • Insulin-resistance
  • Sleep disruption
  • Fertility problems
  • Inflammatory skin conditions

….and many other chronic conditions

And even the so-called “healthy” energy drinks that are on the market tend to be just as bad the regular stuff when it comes to sugar content.

With infused water, you get a naturally soft flavor without any of the unhealthy side effects.

3) No Dyes, Additives or Preservatives

Sports drinks, energy drinks and soft drinks contain artificial dyes that enhance color, additives that enhance flavor and preservatives that keep the contents “fresh” for months or years.

But these dyes, additives and preservatives also mess with your hormones…particularly your weight loss hormones.

Yep, all those ingredients can contribute inflammation, causing your adrenals to release more cortisol.

And as cortisol increases:

  • Systemic inflammation increases.
  • Blood sugar levels rise.
  • Insulin resistance also increases.

All of these factors contribute significantly to weight gain.

So, you’re better off drinking a glass of infused water.

At least you have total control over the ingredients!

4) Boosts Energy

Next time you’re feeling sluggish or low on energy, consider reaching for a glass of infused water.

Very often, fatigue is really just a sign of dehydration.

And while a cup of coffee might give you an initial boost, it could backfire in the long-term.

This is because coffee’s stimulatory effect can affect your cortisol levels.

And as we saw in the previous section, high cortisol creates a ripple effect that makes it difficult to lose weight.
